Junior Open Day

58 juniors played the course in a Stableford format, on a sunny, Spring day, with a grand total of 26 girls (which is the highest number of girls that we’ve witnessed playing in one of our Junior Open Days).

Newly appointed Junior Captain Rhys Morgan’s Drive-In set the pace for the first category of boys and girls 0 -12 handicaps, followed by the second category of boys’ 13 – 28 & C29 – C36 handicaps, whilst a smaller field of girls with handicaps 13 – 36 completed those groups playing 18 holes.

There was a further two mixed categories consisting of Club and Non-handicapped juniors playing 12 holes from Red Tees and 10 holes from 150 yard markers (holes 3 – 12). We even had 2 young boys, who played on the 4-hole mini course and participated in a 9-hole putting competition.

Some Club members kindly volunteered their support, which certainly contributed to the whole success of the day and the Junior Organisers were very appreciative of the help they received from the following sections – Men’s and Ladies’ Captains, Match and Handicap Committee, Ladies’ Committee, the Pro Shop, especially Jordan Davies, Club Volunteers – Mr Graham Byng and Mrs Sue Dixon, and Club Secretary/Manager  Mr Damion Gee. Naturally, the Greenkeepers, Bar and Catering staff deserve thanks for their hard work on the course and great service provided for visitors and members.
